BRAD MAURER
Brad Maurer has traveled a twisted path to get to where he is as an artist today. He studied art at the Ohio State University then moved to Chicago to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Getting dangerously close to graduating, he dropped out of school to play music. After several years of making little to no money (being a blue-grass mandolin player doesn’t pay very well….), he went back to school and got a masters degree in environmental engineering. Now retired from consulting and conservation, Brad has returned to making art and is very happy to be part of the Lancaster Art Vault. His main pursuits are cartooning, drawing, and body painting.
Before joining LAV, Brad was a member of the King’s Courtyard Artist’s Collective in York. He was the cartoonist for Harrisburg Magazine for two years from 2021 to 2023. Brad has shown his work at various shows, venues, and coffee shops around the Harrisburg area, including the Odd Ones Bizarre at the Millworks Restaurant, Sip@soma street festival, and the Harrisburg Flea. He was an organizer for art shows at the Civic Club of Harrisburg. He has performed body painting for public events, including the Harrisburg Gallery Walk, and the Sip@soma street festival.
