PETER STEVENSON

Peter Stevenson is a fine artist and illustrator. Before attending University of Maryland as a fine art major, Stevenson’s early childhood was spent in the rural farmlands just beyond the highly influential Brandywine Valley. He has lived and worked in various markets, including Washington. D.C., Maryland and Virginia, Philadelphia, Northern New Jersey and New York City, where he is a member of New York Society of Illustrators.

His self-defined “editorial surrealism” work has appeared in publications, interiors, and other contexts for high profile clients such as The Washington Post, Crayola, AT&T, The Wall Street Journal, Citibank, Wyndham Worldwide, The Washington Book Review, and many others. His work has earned him scores of regional and national awards, including gold Philadelphia Art Directors Club Awards, The ADDY Awards “Best of Show/Illustration”, the Regional and National BMA Awards, and many others.

Now having returned to the Lancaster area of Pennsylvania, he is re-exploring the region and allowing his impressions of it to influence a new collection of thematic paintings. The collection titled, Biospheres, once described as “where Rothko meets Wyeth”, premiered regionally in 2018, on Prince Street in Lancaster’s Gallery Row. His paintings are found in homes, publications and businesses, from San Francisco to Austin, Washington to Toronto, and from Nashville to New England. And now as a matter of course... Lancaster, PA.
