SARA STICHLER
Lancaster resident Sara Stichler works in watercolors and acrylics. Born and raised nearby on Lebanon's Northside, she was originally a Fine Arts major, and recently returned to painting after a two-decade hiatus. Thinking the world didn't need another artist, she had put painting on hold while she travelled and began career and family-- realizing only much later that regardless of whether the world did or didn't need her art, she needed to create.
At the encouragement of family and friends, she began showing her work. She was featured as an emerging artist at the Mt. Gretna Art Show in 2022, and finding that her paintings brought joy to others, began showing at other local events, including the Lititz Outdoor Fine Art Show and Landis Woods Outdoor Fine Art Show.
Sara seeks to capture the beauty and feeling of a time and place through color. Her work features floral studies, landscapes, and cityscapes; he subjects found in her backyard or gleaned from her travels.
Painting helps her with two seemingly juxtaposed ideas: remaining present, and connecting with places and people from her past. Self-expression and communication are at the core of Sara’s values: through words as a linguist,
through dance as a member of the MamboJaz Dance Company, or through the color in painting. She’s thrilled to be in downtown Lancaster, a place that’s been dear to her heart since the days of Zap & Co. and The Monk’s Tunic
