Artist Talk and Demonstration with Resident Artist, Melissa Zane

Join local artist Melissa S Zane for an engaging artist talk and live painting demonstration during Lancaster's Spring Art Walk. Melissa will discuss her newest exhibition, "Nature Magnified," a vibrant collection of acrylic paintings that invites viewers to see the natural world through an enhanced lens of color, texture, and light.

Known for her signature layered metallic acrylic technique, Melissa will showcase her process in real time—demonstrating how she builds up rich, textured surfaces through high-relief paintings with intricate patterns, and shimmering touches of gold and bronze. During the demo, she’ll explain how each piece takes on a life of its own, guided by intuition and appreciation for nature and the small natural elements surrounding us.

"Nature Magnified" explores the beauty found in the overlooked details of our environment: the twist of a tree branch, the curl of a leaf, the play of sunlight across a petal. Through bold colors, organic design, and metallic or iridescent paints that shift with the light, Melissa’s work encourages viewers to look deeper and experience nature from a fresh perspective.

Influenced by the Art Nouveau movement, the intricate designs of William Morris, and the organic forms celebrated by Georgia O’Keeffe, Melissa blends realism with artistic interpretation. Her paintings are more than visual experiences—they are invitations to slow down, to notice, and to marvel.

Whether you’re a fellow artist, a nature lover, or simply curious about the creative process, this live event offers a unique behind-the-scenes look at how Melissa brings her vibrant visions to life. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with the artist, ask questions, and see a painting evolve before your eyes.
